# Human Provenance in Film > A free, open standard for disclosing AI use in film and television. Productions are classified into three categories (No AI Used, Assistive AI, or Generative AI) through a producer-signed declaration that travels in the film's existing chain-of-title and delivery documentation. The standard is a draft (v0.9) and is open for public consultation until 31 October 2026. The organising principle is whether AI output is present in the finished film, and whether it processed human work or originated new content. No AI output means No AI Used. AI that processes human-created material is Assistive AI. AI that originates new content appearing in the finished work is Generative AI. Classification is a producer declaration, not a technical detection. ## Standard - [Taxonomy (plain text)](https://humanprovenance.film/taxonomy.md): The full classification standard: organising principle, the three categories, the classification test, the reconstruction test, scope, and edge cases. - [Taxonomy (web page)](https://humanprovenance.film/taxonomy): The same standard as a web page. - [How it works](https://humanprovenance.film/how-it-works/): Plain-language overview for producers, distributors, festivals, and platforms. - [FAQ](https://humanprovenance.film/faq/): Common questions about applying the standard. ## Technical - [JSON schema](https://github.com/human-provenance-in-film/hpf-taxonomy/blob/main/schema.json): The two-field metadata schema (hpf_taxonomy_version, hpf_classification). - [Integration guide](https://github.com/human-provenance-in-film/hpf-taxonomy/blob/main/INTEGRATION.md): Implementation guidance for platforms, distributors, delivery portals, and C2PA tooling. - [C2PA mapping](https://github.com/human-provenance-in-film/hpf-taxonomy/blob/main/c2pa-mapping.md): Proposed mapping of HPF categories to C2PA Content Credentials.
